CRATERS OF THE MOON IDAHO

Craters of the Moon National Monument is a volcanic area along US 20 ,20 miles west of Arco, Idaho. The monument is not considered extinct but dormant. The last eruption occurred around the time of Christ, 2000 years ago. The Shoshone Indians witnessed the eruption during that time. Craters of the Moon eruptive episodes began 15000 years and erupts about every 2000 years. The area is due for one in the near future. See http://www.nps.gov/crmo/ for more details.
