CENTRALIA, PENNSYLVANIA (the town that
burns from under!

Centralia was a town of about 1100 now there are fewer than 15 people living in this town or remains of it. In 1962 a trash dump caught on fire and eventually caught an underground coal seam on fire that is still burning to this day! It made international headlines. The government paid majority of the residents in 1983 to relocate because of poisonous gases and the subsiding of land. However there are a few hardcore people who just don't want to leave. Centralia is a very interesting place to visit. For those travelling through middle PA I recommend stopping in Centralia. Not quite a volcano, but its good enough for me!
